Trying something new on day 43
365. Some days I don’t have the energy. On other days I lack the inspiration. On a rare occasion I feel inspired and the planned image actually comes off better than planned. Day 11 was a shock for me, I was out of ideas and lacking in energy. The portraits of my husband turned out better than I could have expected, given it was an off camera flash and a desk lamp lit shot. It made me think. Perhaps I have been unnecessarily avoiding shooting images of people. So I decided to give it another, semi-proper, attempt.
This time, my daughter. She started it all off by playing with an old mount card in my office. My brain started ticking over and a resulting mini-photo shoot took place. I now have a a couple of light stands and a 4ft backdrop set up to play with (thanks to my dad loaning me some of his old gear), so play we did. I’m not sure the crimson backdrop does her hair the greatest of favours, but overall I rather like it. I did enjoy it and I think she did too and I do believe I have definitely captured a fair bit of her spirit. Perhaps I should invest in a more neutral backdrop and give it another go, I’ll also need to set up diffusers as the lighting was too harsh. All to easy to criticise I guess. So I shan’t do that anymore … doesn’t me you shouldn’t though, I’d welcome comments as I venture into a new area for me.
Thanks!
